Derek Prince was born in Bangalore, India, to a British military family. When he was five, Derek was sent back to England, where he studied and was educated in the most prestigious boarding schools and colleges.
In his search for truth, he devoted himself to the study of philosophy and became the disciple of the famous philosopher
Ludwig Wittgenstein. When he realized that there was no clear or positive answer in philosophy, he turned to oriental teachings - yoga, theosophy, and voodoo. But again, disappointment came. He experienced spiritual experience, but it did not make him happy. He felt that he was suffering from a depression.
Derek Prince was drafted into the British Army during the Second World War, to the Medical Corps. He took a book he had never read - the Bible and the New Testament.
One night, as all the soldiers in the military living room slept, Derek put a stool in front of the window overlooking the sea. He was determined to pray "until something happens." But since he never prayed, he did not know what to say and to whom to pray. As he pondered this, Jesus was revealed to him dramatically.
Following this meeting Derek changed completely. "From that day on, I did not doubt that Jesus was alive.
I discovered what I found difficult to understand for a long time - that the truth is not just an abstract thing, a religion or a Torah. In truth, the truth is a living soul.
Shortly afterwards, Derek Prince was transferred to a military base on the North African continent. From there he came to Eretz Israel, where he met his wife Lydia and adopted six Jewish girls, one Arab and one British. Later on, the couple adopted an African girl during their service in Kenya, Africa.
Derek Prince passed away in 2003 at his home in Jerusalem. He left behind books and lectures that contain a unique analysis of the human condition as well as of political situations in the world and in Israel in light of the writings of the Bible and the New Testament.
